How to Make Your MLM or Home Business Work For You, Not Against You!

I was having a conversation with some of my friends at a BBQ at my home this last weekend on how much pain they are feeling in this economy. Needless to say even the ones who had secure jobs or owned their own businesses are feeling the pinch. The group went back and forth with their views on why the economy was down and what alternatives they were doing or looking at it to supplement their income, we digressed into whom or what political party was to blame, and the conversation came around to Multi - Level Marketing (relationship selling, multilevel marketing, network marketing).

WOW&..this was more heated than the political discussion! The views ranged from it's a pyramid and everyone loses money except those at the top&. to it is the greatest business opportunity in America.

Now to tell a little about my self I have studied and been in many MLM's over the last 25 years. I believe that both sides are right to a degree, but the main issue in my opinion is that you must research the company and have a professional approach in doing this business. I have owned several "brick and mortar" businesses over the last 20 years and in the true sense of the word "pyramid" I have structured my businesses that way. Not one of my employee's will ever make more than me.

It was at this time I decided to put my opinion on the table. I stated the MLM model is not the problem. This is just a business model which is really just a version of a micro-franchise. The biggest benefit is the low cost of starting a MLM with the upside potential of receiving a large ROI (return on investment). This is also the worst aspect of the MLM model; most people do not approach MLM like a "true" business and are being trained by someone with little or no business knowledge. This is truly the blind leading the blind. Most up-line does not have any idea how to market MLM any more than those they recruit. I have found most of them teach the "four foot rule", aggressively recruit anyone within 4 feet of you. This makes them seem desperate to me and many of those who have approached me are overselling the opportunity, and are not accurate about the true work to reward ratio in the business. If it sounds too good to be true I have found it usually is.

Now after reading this you may think I am not a fan of the MLM business, not true I love the MLM business plan and am involved in several right now. Several of my friends were highly surprised that I was involved in multi - level marketing&.and were probably a little afraid I invited them over for dinner just to show them the "Business Model" &.but a look of confusion came to their faces when I shared that my business model is only shared with pre-qualified applicants. Now some of these same people were bent that I did not think they were good enough to be in my business. I had to tell them that is not the case I felt they were not in a mental position to qualify my working with them. This is when I shared with them some information from a very qualified MLM expert on how to successfully build and run an MLM business. One of them said I should share my "mentors" information with other people&.hence the writing of this article.

I have put a link to this information on my blog, go an view it if you are truly interested in dramatically increasing your current MLM or if you just need to start a home business and want to do it right. I have found that the information I have gleaned from my mentor has helped me in my "brick & mortar" business also. My name is Ken and I hope you find this useful&enjoy!
