Money Gym Announces Two Day Seminar to Encourage Women to Think Bigger Financially - and Raise Money for Charity
London, UK (PRWEB) September 14, 2008 -- All too often, women are encouraged to think small financially, says wealth coaching company The Money Gym.
This week both The Financial Mail On Sunday and the "This Is Money" covered a survey that found that "More than half of all women aged from 45 to 54 are worried they will not have enough money in retirement." The research carried out by YouGov for life insurer The Hartford, found that 54% of middle-aged women feared they would outlive their cash in retirement, compared with 45% of men of the same age.
Kate Jopling, head of public affairs at charity Help the Aged, says it is harder for women to build up a pension in their own right. Caring for children and elderly relatives means they have to take more career breaks or work part-time.
'Women are hit from every angle on pensions because the gender pay gap also means they earn less and may work in the sorts of job that don't offer a good work pension,' says Jopling. 'Women in their 40s and 50s may also be worried about finances following a divorce.' The poll also found that recent pressure on day-to-day finances means women are less able to save.
Michael Rudge, managing director at The Hartford, says: 'It is important for women to take care of their finances, even where money is tight. Even small amounts of saving can make a big difference over time.'
Small Thinking
Wealth coach Nicola Cairncross, founder of the www.themoneygym.com, is furious that all these so-called experts are encouraging women to think so small.
